About My Clients
If you wonder sometimes how your childhood and past influence your relationships today, I can help you unravel these questions and issues. I use a systemic framework to help you reach your personal goals and understand how your relationships with yourself, family members, friends, partners, and coworkers all interact within societal contexts to create your lived experience.
My Background and Approach
I believe in utilizing a strengths-based perspective to help clients recognize and cultivate their resilience in making healthy changes. I draw from my previous experience as a high school and middle school teacher, wedding photographer, and yoga teacher in my clinical work. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and English for Secondary Education from Franklin College, IN. I went on to earn a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Louisville. I utilize evidence-based practices, while drawing on my creativity to best meet the needs and goals of my clients. I approach my clinical work with empathy and curiosity, and have experience working with teens, adults, couples, and families facing various life challenges. I have experience utilizing therapeutic models such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative, and Internal Family Systems.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have inherent strengths and I enjoy helping individuals discover or rediscover what their unique strengths are, all the while holding a space of empathy and unconditional positive regard. I understand that life does not give equal opportunities to all of us and I strive to help individuals maintain hope to change the system while at the same time seeing themselves as a survivor of it.
