About My Clients

Are you overwhelmed by all the expectations of life? You might be anxious or struggling to get the motivation to do all the things you need to do. Maybe you feel out of control or lacking discipline, struggling to break a habit that you know isn't good for you. You are not alone. I can help with that. I offer supportive, strengths-based counseling to help you talk through all the issues and live a more satisfying life.

My Background and Approach

I have a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. I have experience working with children, adults and families, including individuals diagnosed with anxiety, depression, PTSD, adjustment disorder, social anxiety disorder, bi-polar, etc. I have also counseled people impacted by sexual violence and intimate partner violence. My approach is eclectic, meaning I pull from many different counseling theories. I collaborate with clients to determine the best treatment approach. The foundation of my approach is forming a supportive relationship with the client, to allow them to explore thoughts and feelings, and build insight into their situation. I am a certified cognitive behavioral therapist, which allows me to help people to gain insight on the parts of their thinking that may be flawed, so that they can approach difficult situations with more clarity and accuracy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone has their own experience and unique way of looking at the world, which guides our decisions and actions. I spent a great deal of my younger life trying to suppress my emotions and avoiding being vulnerable, because I did not feel safe enough. It was the perfect recipe for shame and self-destruction. Part of my own mental health process has included working with a therapist and engaging in support groups. One of the greatest lessons I've learned through this is that everyone's emotional needs matter. That is what makes me so passionate about being a therapist. It is a great privilege to give other people the space that has been given to me. I believe we all need a healthy dose of emotional validation and human connection to stay sane, and heal from what hurt us.
