About My Clients

Do you struggle with anxiety? Living in the “what-if’s” regarding your health, relationships, or future? Do you use substances or engage in behaviors in a way you know isn’t healthy or that is causing you problems? Do you want black-and-white answers in a world of uncertainty? Like you, I've been there. It's not a very comfortable way to live. If you're tired of managing panic attacks, constant worry, or trying to block out life in unhealthy ways, I would like to meet you!

My Background and Approach

I earned my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston in the spring of 2024. During my clinical training I counseled individuals for a wide range of issues, and I co-led men’s and women’s mental health & recovery groups in a county jail. I am now an Oregon Board Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, (license R11302), and as such I practice under ongoing clinical supervision. I meet regularly with my supervisor, Raina McRae, LCSW, (license #L5457), to discuss my clinical work, ensure quality of care, and support my professional growth. I combine warmth, kindness, and humor with practical tools using cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and existential approaches. Basically, I will help you notice and get curious about your thoughts, calm yourself down, and find a way of living this finite life that works for you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the diversity of humanity. That's why the concept of spectrums resonates so strongly with me. Whether it be neurodiversity, sexual attraction, gender identity, or any other category, in the end we are all individuals who have our own way of being in the world. Although I find this diversity to be wonderful, there are many who insist that people fit into binary categories, and indeed, are actively engaged in hurting certain populations. I would categorize myself as a secular humanist, someone who finds meaning through reason and compassion, without religion. I'm especially interested in anxiety, and how it may relate to essential existential issues such as mortality, life purpose or meaning, freedom, responsibility, belonging and isolation. I believe if a person can investigate these big ideas in therapy, they may find less anxiety and a more solid sense of self. A more solid sense of self can be a great jumping off point for a more contented life.
