About My Clients
Is anxiety a constant in your life? Is relationship and job stress causing you to feel like life is closing in on you? Does the trauma of your past hold you back from experiencing life to the fullest? I'm here to help through empathetic listening and by supporting you in identifying and eliminating the things that are holding you back in life. I truly understand how anxiety and depression can feel, and I'm here to help support you as you learn to cope with life's stresses in a healthier way.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist I've spent my career learning numerous coping strategies and tools I can share with people just like you. I'm very client centered which means we work at the pace you're comfortable with. I'm a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP). This means that I have specialized training in treating trauma, PTSD, and anxiety disorders. First, I like to hear your story, what your goals are, and the things you want to address. From there we work on a treatment plan together that's created just for you that will enable you to set goals and learn coping strategies that are specific to your situation. I have attended multiple trainings where I've learned various coping strategies for anxiety and PTSD. I will work with you to learn how to implement these tools at any given time, help you understand what's happening in your body and nervous system, and get the relief you need. I will also assist you in processing trauma and learning coping skills for PTSD symptoms.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my firm belief that every person has the capacity to heal, learn and grow. Sometimes the stresses and traumas of life cause us to lose sight of our insight and ability to heal. Therapy helps us to tap into our inner resources and strength to overcome these obstacles. Past trauma can cause us to rely on unhealthy coping mechanisms that we've learned and needed for our survival. By processing this trauma in a safe environment, we can gain a better understanding of who we are and begin to heal from the past, letting go of the coping strategies that no longer serve us. Through my own therapy I've learned that my past doesn't have to define who I am anymore, and I hope that you too can discover and experience this freedom for yourself. In my free time I like creating art, gardening, reading novels and enjoying life outdoors in the beautiful coastal Redwood forests of the Pacific Northwest.
