I am passionate about helping families and individuals reduce their stress, achieve their goals, and lead happier and fuller lives.
Clinical Social Worker in Oregon
I have years of experience working with parents...and years of experience being a parent, myself! I believe that parenting is the hardest job out there, and also a high calling that can be exhausting and draining yet also fulfilling and rewarding. Like most tough jobs, it's easier with good support, and I am here to walk with you side by side in your parenting journey. I provide a judgment-free zone to talk through your challenges and help you stay true to your values.
I believe that children do the best they can with the tools and skills they have, and that there is no such thing as a "bad child" or "problem child," just a child in need of more tools and skills and support! My approach is heavily influenced by Ross Greene and Mona Delahooke as well as my own experience working with children and their families and seeing first hand what works and what doesn't.
I believe that YOU are the expert on yourself and that I am here to be by your side as a support, resource, and guide. As such, I do not tend to maintain strict fidelity to one therapeutic approach, but instead work together with you to customize therapy to best meet your needs. I draw on a range of approaches and tools to find the best fit for your style and also for the issues you would like to address.
I know that not everyone comes to therapy wanting a long-term support: sometimes you just want help with a specific problem. As such, I offer brief therapy that is oriented toward a particular goal you agree you would like to work on. My practical and transparent approach will give you confidence that you are making progress toward your goal, and you and I will work together to decide the length of treatment.
No man is an island, and when one member of a family is struggling, the whole family struggles in one way or another. Thankfully, it's also true that when individual members of the family are all working toward the same goals of improvement and wellness, they can help one another along in their journey. I firmly believe that getting your whole family on the same page can be transformative for a struggling family member and can bring joy and peace to your home.
