About My Clients
I love working with clients who report having a hard time fitting in, being understood or unable to have close lasting relationships.
My Background and Approach
I have trained in Brainspotting which is an innovative effective type of therapy based on neurobiology. It allows clients to have access to the parts of themselves in a much deeper way than what is possible through thoughts and logic. It allows to regulate one's nervous system to achieve better focus and performance and healing from traumatic events and loss. I also use other modalities (depending on clients' goals) that favor body-mind connections and emotional processing. This can address somatic symptoms, panic attacks, anger outbursts, rejection sensitivity, sensory processing issues, and emotional numbness. I have also done extensive research on ADHD and have worked with clients who identify as neurodiverse.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every person has innate value and that generally people have more in common with others than they realize. I also know that most of us focus on the things that differ and divide us as they could bring much pain and suffering. Our survival instincts make us remember past hurts and devise strategies to avoid pain. Often, however, this avoidance goes to extremes where we disconnect from others and feel lonely, unloved, insecure, work hard to please others or self-medicate. Although I believe that sexuality is only one facet of an identity, I have a special interest working with clients form an LGBTQ+ community because many have been marginalized and mistreated.
