Codependency can be found in relationships with friends, partners, or family members. I look at what codependency looks like for each unique client as well as the early attachments. This way we can identify where the patterns begin, because codependency is a learned behavior. Which means you can unlearn it. I utilize CBT and mindfulness strategies to help you create healthy boundaries, re-shape maladaptive thoughts, learn effective communication, and raise your self-esteem.
As a First-Generation Immigrant I understand the immigrant struggle and the acculturation pressure. I’ve enjoyed helping First and Second-Generation Immigrants navigate their struggles with cultural identity, managing family expectations, relationship issues, “non-traditional” career paths, or dealing with life changes. I know it’s important to work with you from your cultural background, as well as a unique individual. My goal is to help you navigate your struggles and live authentically.
I utilize CBT with every client. It helps clients cope with stressful life situations, manage emotions, and learn effective communication. It’s a useful tool when dealing with Anxiety and Depression. CBT is a goal-oriented approach in identifying your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions about a distressing situation and re-shaping the maladaptive thought patterns to minimize or manage anxiety, sadness, or feelings of unworthiness. Utilizing CBT improves functioning and quality of life.
I utilize a Person-Centered approach with all my clients. What this means is I let my clients take the lead as they are the expert on their story. And I accept my clients’ positive and negative experiences without condition or judgement. This way my client feels safe in sharing their authentic experiences and emotions without fear of judgement. It also means that by providing support, guidance, and structure I can help you find and utilize the tools you already have to achieve your goals.
As a multi-cultural individual, I know it’s important to approach each client with an understanding of their cultural background. But I also believe that each client is unique and is different from others within their culture. I approach each client with an understanding of their culture, but allow the client to direct me towards their unique experiences without making generalized assumptions.
Codependency can exist in relationships with partners, friends, or family. When I work with clients in co-dependent relationships we discuss what the relationship looks like for each unique client. Codependency is a learned behavior. And like with any learned behavior, you can unlearn it. I help clients heal by utilizing CBT and Mindfulness strategies to help you establish boundaries, increase your self-esteem, communicate effectively, and change negative thinking.
Every client I’ve worked with has presented with anxiety in some form. I’ve worked with clients with social anxiety, job/stress anxiety, life transition anxiety, generalized anxiety, relationship anxiety etc. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Mindfulness and Meditation techniques to help you identify your triggers and equip you with tangible, solution-focused coping strategies to minimize or manage the anxiety.
