About My Clients

I work with teens & young adults navigating eating disorders, depression, and anxiety - especially those tired of surface fixes who want deeper, more honest work. You might know all the "right" answers but struggle to live them. Or you're reaching out for the first time, unsure what's wrong but knowing something feels unsustainable. I get eating disorder nuances - that it's never really about food, that recovery isn't just weight restoration or performing health for others.

My Background and Approach

I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with seven years of specialized experience in eating disorder treatment across multiple levels of care - from emergency psychiatric settings to residential programs. I've worked at Monte Nido, Sheppard Pratt, and currently serve as Nurse Administrator at an adolescent residential eating disorder facility, which means I've seen thousands of clients and know what actually supports lasting recovery versus what just looks good on paper. My background includes extensive work with teens and young adults in crisis, medication management for complex presentations, and creating treatment environments that actually feel safe enough for real healing to happen. I'm trained in psychopharmacology specific to eating disorders and mood disorders - these conditions need nuanced care, not cookie-cutter protocols.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a South Asian and Black woman in psychiatric care, I'm acutely aware of how mental health treatment has historically failed communities of color - pathologizing normal responses to systemic oppression, over-medicating, under-listening. I'm committed to providing care that acknowledges these realities and creates space for your full identity, not just the parts that fit neatly into diagnostic criteria. My approach is informed by understanding power dynamics in the therapeutic relationship. I hold multiple privileged identities as a healthcare provider, and I work actively to ensure that doesn't translate into imposing my values or vision of health onto your life. Your autonomy matters more than my comfort. Outside clinical work, I'm deeply invested in embodied practices - dance, movement, reiki - as legitimate pathways to healing that Western medicine has been slow to recognize.
