About My Clients
"How do I get unstuck? I feel overwhelmed and under-resourced!" If this sounds like you, you're not alone. Many of my clients feel stuck and unsure where to begin. I'm here as a support and partner in creating a path forward that feels more nourishing and sustainable for you. Do you identify as neurodivergent? Or as some like to say, "neurospicy"? I welcome neurodivergences in their nuanced forms. As a queer provider, I provide an LGBTQ+ affirming space. Come as you are!
My Background and Approach
I work with people of all ages. I am a therapist to many young people (under 18yo), which is a true passion of mine... and during this season of life, I feel the pull towards connecting with more adult clients. I'm energized to offer a form of therapy that focuses not only on our brain, but also on our body. This approach, called Somatic Experiencing, specifically focuses on how our brain and body are deeply interconnected and influence each other. Have you heard the phrase "the body keeps the score"? There is some truth to that statement! Nervous system work is a huge part of my clinical framework. I can/will also provide more traditional talk therapy or a hybrid of somatic work and "head work", depending on what feels most helpful to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a cis, queer, white woman in a same-sex marriage. I work in a rural area and my values are not aligned with the majority culture of the area: I roll my eyes at "all lives matter" because of course they do, but can all lives matter when Black lives are treated as dispensable? I believe we should celebrate LGBTQIA+ identities and I do mean every letter and the plus in that acronym! I believe that all bodies are worthy of worthy of care and respect. Yes, even yours! In my practice, "Fat" isn't an F word, it is just a descriptor like short or brown-eyed. If you and I come from different backgrounds: amazing! I'd love to learn more about you, your culture, your background and your values. And it's not your job to take on the labor of educating me about your culture; that's my work to do as a person with white privilege. Lastly but certainly not least, if you identify as neurodivergent, great! So do I. Perhaps our flavors of neurodivergence will meld well together. :)
