About My Clients
I believe in providing a safe and supportive environment where I will collaborate with you to meet your goals by learning and practicing new skills to apply to your daily life. Throughout my career, I have learned how to remain calm no matter the crisis and provide a steady emotional rock for my clients to lean on throughout the difficult times in their lives. I work with a variety of clients with all types of struggles and needs. I provide a safe space to work through these and teach skills
My Background and Approach
I was born and raised in Montgomery County, MD, and went to school at MC and UMBC. After graduating, I moved to the heart of New York City in order to work as a Resident Advisor for a homeless shelter for boys aged 18-21. After I left NY, I continued my education by earning my Masters in Social Work from the UMB in 2013. I then began my career working in a variety of environments and situations including schools, nursing homes, intensive outpatient programs, emergency rooms, and partial hospitalization programs based in both hospitals and clinics. My extensive experience began with adolescents and those transitioning into adulthood. I specifically have worked with clients (13 and over) who are experiencing issues including trauma, school issues (bullying, executive function, stress), family issues (family trauma, family structure issues, parent coaching, family therapy), mental health disorders, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am often kept busy with my three pets. I have two sweet yet needy cats, Buttercup and Phoebe, and a puppy named Bennet who likes to steal my attention away from his older cat sisters. Other activities that I did pre-covid include traveling, going to the theater or concerts, and being out in nature. While I love to travel and have traveled cross-country, I also enjoy escaping from the busy suburban life and spending a few days near home in the Shenandoah Valley and at Ocean City, Maryland. As I travel, I collect postcards to document where I’ve been. I started being involved in theater at the young age of 3! While it has been a long time since I’ve been on the stage, my life is still strongly influenced by theater. During the last two years I have replaced going out to shows with watching musicals at home and having soundtracks running on repeat. Another fun fact about me is that my favorite food is Bistec Empanizado.
