In our work you’ll be supported to better understand patterns based in your past, including the societal systems that affect you, your family and relationship history, the ways you have coped over time, and what really matters to you. All this helps you move forward with more confidence and clarity.
My Background and Approach
As a psychotherapist, I work with adults and teens at who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and identity issues. I see therapy as fundamentally collaborative – our work together is shaped by a relationship of trust and what you bring to each session. I draw on several therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed. As a researcher and educator, I have been studying teaching and learning in and out of schools for 25 years, with a focus on how systems can be more humane and informed by expertise from community-based knowledge and research evidence. I have taught on the faculty at the University of Rochester and the University of Colorado Boulder. As a longtime student of buddhist psychology and wisdom and compassion practices, I am committed to sharing these approaches with others as a teacher of mindfulness in everyday life.
