About My Clients
You may look like you’re doing well on the outside while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or behind on the inside. I especially enjoy working with teens, young adults, and adults navigating school or work stress, identity, relationships, self-esteem, and life transitions. I also work with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, trauma, and difficult patterns from the past. Therapy can be a place to slow down, feel understood, build healthier coping skills, and move forward with confidence.
My Background and Approach
I’m Annia Ibarra, MS, LPC Associate, NCC, and founder of Author Your Story Counseling. I provide individual and family therapy for children 6+, teens, and adults, both virtually throughout Texas and in person in the Webster/southeast Houston area. My approach is integrative and tailored to you rather than one-size-fits-all. I draw from CBT, DBT skills, attachment-based approaches, expressive arts, parts work/IFS, narrative therapy, mindfulness, existential therapy, and solution-focused techniques. Together, we can make sense of what you’re experiencing, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical skills that fit your life. I believe therapy should be collaborative, compassionate, and useful. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, build healthier coping skills, strengthen your confidence, and move forward with greater clarity. I also offer faith-integrated therapy when it aligns with your goals and values.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people are more than their symptoms, struggles, or the roles they carry. Our experiences shape us, but they do not have to define the rest of our story. I value authenticity, curiosity, compassion, creativity, and understanding ourselves without judgment. Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading science fiction and philosophy books and exploring how stories and ideas can help us better understand ourselves and one another. That curiosity influences my work: I want therapy to be a space where you can ask honest questions, explore different parts of yourself, and make sense of your experiences without needing all the answers. I believe therapy works best when it respects the whole person. When appropriate, I’m open to incorporating creativity, values, spirituality or faith, and mind-body awareness based on what is meaningful to you. My goal is to help you move toward a life that feels more intentional and aligned with who you are.
