About My Clients
Anni works with individuals (12+), couples and families who might experience problems with regulating moods, relationship stress, or feeling a lack of purpose or hope. She specializes in working with adolescents with mood or identity issues, as well as individuals with symptoms related to borderline personality disorder.
My Background and Approach
Anni Skurja is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) who graduated from Mercer University with a Master’s in MFT in 2018. She received a Bachelor of Arts and an Associate of Arts in Psychology from Fort Valley State University (2016) and Gordon State College (2013). Anni practices with a DBT-informed approach while incorporating ACT and Narrative therapy interventions. She currently serves on the board for GAMFT as Communications Chair and teaches at Mercer University as an adjunct professor. She uses her own struggles and adversity to connect with genuine empathy and authenticity while recognizing that each person’s experiences are different.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The foundation of my therapy style comes from the personal belief that we all have the ability to overcome life's challenges, as well as the right to make decisions for ourselves about what is best for us. Choice in how we express ourselves, our values, our priorities in life, and our lifestyles is championed in my therapy with my clients. I stand behind the social movements and organizations that hold this belief, as well.
