About My Clients

Let's be honest, sometimes change is just not possible. Sometimes certain situations, such as a diagnosis, circumstances, or the actions of other people simply cannot be changed. What then? It is still possible to feel hope and find happiness. Maybe things are going to look a little different than what you envisioned but having an open mind and a willingness to explore new ways of thinking, being, and doing can be the key to helping you find hope, help, and healing.

My Background and Approach

Annette is a licensed professional counselor with many lived experiences in both her personal and professional life that allow her to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping people who face a broad range of challenges. She is mom to a neurodivergent adult with over 20 years of experience advocating for her son and many others. She served honorably in the military for 12 years and understands the impact of military service upon soldiers, spouses and children, and the unique challenges female soldiers often face. Annette completed a portion of her internship in Kenya working with adults who struggle with addiction, and children and teens in orphanages. Her approach to therapy begins with an affirming approach creating a safe space for clients to feel heard as they explore their challenges and concerns. She utilizes a warm, empathetic, integrative, person centered, people first approach in helping clients explore solutions to find hope, help, and help.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I'm a military veteran, dog lover, hobby farmer, advocate, and proud mom to a neurodivergent adult. It was not easy helping my son find the support he needed while growing up. I have witnessed and experienced firsthand the hardships families and individuals can face as they try to navigate schools, systems, and organizations designed to educate, help, and support them. Along the way we met some really amazing therapists and organizations who were helpful, but there just weren't enough of them and often the waiting lists were too long. I am passionate about advocacy and helping those who are discriminated against, marginalized, overlooked, or not being clearly heard. I have a soft spot in my heart for children with difficult behaviors who have trouble fitting in and love to work with families and schools to help set them up for success at home, in school, and out in their communities.
