About My Clients
Sometimes it feels like you’re carrying the weight of the world. Between trying to manage work or school, relationships or parenting, it can feel like there is never enough time or space for yourself. My clients want to do it all, and want to do it well. Sometimes they feel alone, as if everyone else has it figured out. Together we look at their past and present to find a way to feel strong and confident; to learn to give themselves the same care they given to everything else in their lives.
My Background and Approach
Each therapy relationship i encounter is unique to my client. I love to connect person to person with my clients, and find the best match of skills to help them move forward in their lives. Often we will start by focusing on the present- on the current places of hurt, sadness or stress that have brought you in. We can talk about skills for managing those difficult places. We will then zoom out and start to connect the present to the past- looking for patterns that can help explain the why. Once we have the why, that insight can really start to drive change. My background and techniques come from my doctoral training as a counseling psychologist, my postdoctoral training at Cambridge Eating Disorders Center, my years of working in university mental health at both the University of New Hampshire and Harvard University, and my 10 years of work in private practice. I have also completed a certificate in Peripartum mental health through postpartum support international.
