About My Clients
My amazing, marvelous, courageous, determined clients are Adults dealing with Anxiety, Trauma, Life Transitions, and/or Grief. Whether our session follows a clear protocol such as EMDR or if it is a good Rogerian vent session, my clients and I work together processing issues and practicing strategies designed to teach a variety of coping skills that can be used for the current situation and for situations as they arise in the future.
My Background and Approach
I am beyond grateful for the variety of people I've had the honor of working with over the last 30 years. To me, therapy is about finding out where you, the client, are and molding treatment to best fit you. My degrees are heavily research based, meaning that I like ideas that can be evaluated. However, my approach is one of being open minded, constantly learning from each of my clients. I believe that leads me to be a therapist who stands on solid footing of evidence based research while being open to all sorts of ideas and concepts. Never stop learning!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal approach is just that - personal. I believe every individual comes into this existence embodying hope and promise. Sometimes this body we inhabit does not function ideally. Sometimes experiences we have interfere with our development. Sometimes people we encounter take away from our joy, rather than adding to it. I personally deal with Anxiety and get so much from the sessions I have with my own therapist. I love that I've lived my life during the time period I have. I was born at a time when people were gaining rights, as a result of decades of sacrifice and the effort of countless empathetic, determined humans. I entered adulthood around the same time the "iron curtain came down" - it truly was the end of the world as we knew it and it was fine. The last few years have been daunting. I have spent a great deal of time pondering my beliefs and looking at our society from many angles. I remain steadfast in my conviction that people are good. And that cats rule.
