About My Clients
Some of us go our whole lives with a vague sense that something isn't right and life remains perpetually unsatisfactory and painful. Sometimes we find ourselves acting in ways that don't match our values and it's hard to explain why; or chasing the bar of "good enough" that seems to always be just beyond reach. These are common human experiences and examples of problems I can support. Specific categories include low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, & more.
My Background and Approach
The goal of therapy is to create new possibilities where there has been stuckness, and clarity where there has been fog. My approach to therapy can be defined as psychoanalytic, which means that I believe the pain and discontent we come to experience are rooted in old stories that are held deep within our bodies and minds, often outside our day-to-day awareness. Therapy provides a unique opportunity to listen deeply to these stories, sometimes through words, sometimes through felt experience, and respond intentionally to what they have to tell us. This work creates the opportunity to forge new paths and write new stories. I’m also heavily informed by the paradigms of attachment theory and relational neuroscience, as well as the modalities of emotion focused therapy and parts work.
