About My Clients
Other people view your life as a success: you have your career, your family. But you know there are things that you need to process. You’re managing…but you’d really like to feel like you're doing more than just getting by in life. And to be honest, you know that your past is affecting your current personal and professional relationships and keeping you from the life you desire.
My Background and Approach
Whether it’s stuff from childhood that is holding you back, a current difficulty with a partner or spouse, a divorce, or a trauma that you don’t want to keep stuffed down anymore, I am here for you. I have specialized training and experience in working with multiple types of traumatic experiences (including attachment wounds and narcissistic abuse). My specialties include anxiety, trauma, PTSD, complicated relationships, and divorce. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I offer EMDR therapy, incorporating parts work and mindfulness as appropriate. In addition to regular weekly sessions, I offer EMDR Intensives for people who want to spend 1-3 consecutive days diving deep to accelerate their healing. I also have experience with giftedness & neurodiversity and the complexity of parenting “twice exceptional” children. MSW, Columbia University, 2002 Post-grad Certificate, International Trauma Studies Program, NYU, 2004
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
You want a therapist who truly gets it and who won’t waste your time. You are looking for real transformation, not just a weekly chat. I’m a therapist (and neuroscience nerd!) who loves supporting people through difficult times and relationships and helping people experience their brain’s natural healing power through well-researched techniques like EMDR therapy and mindfulness. You can think of me as both an advocate for your well-being and a facilitator of your brain’s natural healing abilities. People appreciate my compassion and humor as well. I became a therapist because I want us all to live in peace, personally and globally. I entered grad school almost 25 years ago never thinking I’d work 1-on-1 with clients. I wanted to be a force for change, to help right the wrongs of the world. Over time, I realized that I prefer people to projects. And in the words of Buddhist peace-maker and poet Thich Nhat Hanh, cultivating happiness in oneself is “the most basic kind of peace work."
