About My Clients

The clients that find me tend to be anxious but functioning so highly that they appear not just fine but successful to everyone else. They are ready to find where that perfectionism and overdrive is rooted and work to plant something else. They are ready for self-reflection and understanding/healing themselves on a deeper level, and have often maxed out what CBT or traditional talk therapy can do for them. They are open to new perspectives and shifting their actions toward the life they want.

My Background and Approach

I don’t subscribe to the idea that your symptoms are rooted in illness or that something is broken or wrong with you…or that your health resides on the other side of a perfectly executed therapeutic modality. Instead, I aim to help you understand yourself and work toward your version of a beautiful and wholehearted life....whatever that looks like to you. That being said, I have had formal training and consultation in EMDR, CBT, and several other relational and systemic modalities. I pull from each of these, and my wealth of experience, to create something that can make a true difference for you. I have found (and research supports this) that developing a solid therapeutic relationship where it is safe for my clients to be open, vulnerable, and explore tends to create more healing that adherence to any specific model. My approach tends to be warm but direct, open and flexible…and includes a dash of humor and sass along the way.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe strongly that all wellness begins with a strong sense of connection to ourselves, as well as radical self-compassion. I have always been a relational/systemic thinker and my work has reflected that from it’s early stages. Part of the work that I do with each client involves understanding how oppressive systems such as white supremacy, patriarchy, and end-stage capitalism have impacted each of us, and how to move forward with that knowledge. I focus heavily on our own shared humanity and co-creating healing with my clients - true growth and healing takes a lot of work, and isn't something I can just apply or place in your hands. I do my best work with folks who are ready to do some between-session growth as well. Lastly - If you are looking for a lot of jargon, super formal setting or one of those "blank slate" therapists - I am probably not your jam. Swearing, political/social opinions, laughter, and cozy cups of tea are much more common in my sessions.
