About My Clients
Are the negative beliefs about yourself becoming deafening? Has the struggle to maintain consistency in self-care practices becoming unbearable? Perhaps you have felt your mind just seems to operate differently from everyone else's but you're not sure why. Maybe you haven't been the same person since that one event happened, or maybe you've always felt this disconnected. That can be such a vulnerable and terrifying place to be in. Holistic, strength based approaches can help.
My Background and Approach
As a military spouse, I have had the opportunity of serving in many different communities where I had to learn to be more flexible, resourceful, humble, and creative as a clinician. I have worked with populations involved in domestic violence, child abuse, foster care, military and veterans, substance abuse, parolees, severe mental illness, and neurodiversity. I focus on empowering clients to understand and work with their minds rather than battle against them by addressing what is happening at the neuropsychological level. For many of my clients, especially my neurodivergent clients, this can be a game changer, as they have been taught to adapt themselves to the systems that are already in place and form maladaptive behaviors to cope. I use CBT, CPT, trauma-focused modalities, executive functioning coaching, and mindfulness techniques.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a professional and personal mantra, I strive to meet people where they are, not where I think they should be. This was heavily inspired by my faith and looking to Jesus's example. I see all people in my practice of all faiths, sexual orientations, gender identities, political party, race, etc. I am a strong believer in our own free will and self determination for change. I consider it an honor and privilege to serve as a therapist. As someone who has been through my own therapy journey, I know what it is like to step into this space where you are completely vulnerable. I learned to accept my neurodivergent brain for what it is and face my trauma with courage and grace. If you have any questions about how I could possible help you, feel free to reach out. I regularly volunteer in serving the homeless in my community and am a foster parent. In my spare time I like to play guitar, play video games, ride bikes around town with my 3 kids, and travel with my husband.
