About My Clients
I primarily work with women before, during and after pregnancy who may be battling with identity shifts and/or other anxieties that accompany this life change. Life transitions tend to bring unprocessed emotions to the surface as we are navigating changes. The clients I work with tend to set unrealistic standards for themselves. During this turbulent time, they may struggle with self criticism and shame as well as relational issues.
My Background and Approach
I have an extensive background in helping women transition from maiden to mothers. I was a prenatal yoga instructor and a postpartum doula before becoming a therapist. As a mother myself, I understand and appreciate the intensity of this time. When I work with my clients, I am attuned to what is needed in a given session. Sometimes, we just need our feelings normalized and other times we need to institute change because the strategies we used to use to cope with stress are no longer working. I see it as my responsibility to guide you in the direction toward embodying your most authentic self within the structure of the values that are important to you. This is how we cultivate mental wellness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that when we feel empowered and embodied (regulated in our nervous system and present minded), we make choices from a place of agency. From this place, our decisions are consciously led rather than reactive and based on old patterning. Therapy is a means to create that conscious awareness around our thoughts and beliefs.
