About My Clients
As a parent or an adult child of a parent who struggled, you know how difficult creating a resilient, well-adjusted family can be. Family struggles (past or current) are so pervasive and can be devastating. I am here as someone who can help guide you through parenting your own children, re-parenting yourself, or just adjusting to some changes, challenges or stress your family is facing. I work with individuals from all walks of life. My expertise lends toward working with adolescents and adults.
My Background and Approach
I aim to create a non-judgmental, warm atmosphere for us to work on your goals together. My approach to counseling is flexible, but I generally come from a Relational Cultural perspective while pulling from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, person-centered, and strengths-based theories. Therefore, I believe that people can improve their lives through the positive interaction they experience in the counseling relationship and through the power of examining their emotion, thought and behavioral patterns. I believe that counseling has to be a collaboration, and that it is necessary to consider and be aware of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and systemic barriers. It takes courage to admit that you might need help with something so personal as family or family history and I am truly honored to work with my clients through this journey. I hope to meet you and look forward to finding out if we would be a good fit through a free 15 minute consultation.
