About My Clients
Is your life getting smaller and smaller as you try to keep your anxiety at bay? Have you lost someone and feel overwhelmed by grief? Do you think that you aren't where you "should be" in life and feel you're falling behind or failing? Let's talk. I work with adult clients of all genders who are struggling to do things that are important to them or to be who they want to be due to the effects of anxiety, grief, depression, and life events or transitions that have been difficult to manage.
My Background and Approach
I approach therapy from a person-centered, relational viewpoint. In academic terms, I pull from a variety of modalities, primarily Narrative, Existential, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy models, and use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Bowenian Family Systems. For my clients, that means that we will talk about what is important to you and what seems to be getting in the way of moving closer to that, whether it’s symptoms of depression or anxiety, messages and coping skills that you’ve learned in the past that no longer serve you, or a need to clarify what it is that is important to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It's important to me to support fellow members of the LGBTQIA+ community, whether in work specifically around that identity or all the myriad parts of life that affect and are affected by it. I have worked, and will continue to work for the rest of my life, on recognizing my place in systems of power and oppression and acting against the dehumanization of those targeted by oppressive systems.
