My Background and Approach
As a therapist, I understand that clients’ current challenges are deeply and sometimes unconsciously influenced by their past, family history, culture, and systems in which we exist. I help clients unearth the not-yet-know aspects affecting their lives, and work to heal, change, or accept them. I prioritize a safe, caring, and sometimes bold therapeutic relationship that nurtures the clients' innate strengths and capacities. Beyond talk therapy, I also work with the arts (visual art, music, movement) and somatic (body-based) processes to clarify the client’s inner wisdom. You don’t have to consider yourself an artist in order to benefit from creative processes in therapy. Types of therapies or interventions used: Somatic Psychotherapy Expressive Arts Therapy Polyvagal Theory Psychodynamic Relational-Cultural Therapy Emotion Focused (EFIT) Mindfulness
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Having immigrated from Eastern Europe to Southern California in childhood, the cultural differences led me to be a lifelong observer of how humans operate. As an empathic person and self-proclaimed chronic over-thinker, the difficulties I’ve experienced in life led me trying out many coping strategies — some healthy and some not so much. Having gone through a growth and healing process myself, I could no longer look past the ways others mask their pain and suffering and this compelled me to become a therapist.
