About My Clients
Is life overwhelming at times? When hard or unexpected things happen in life, it can be hard to know who to talk to. Sometimes the most well meaning family member or friend can say the least helpful things. I am committed to supporting clients in processing difficulties and developing skills that enable them to manage stress, improve relationships, and have a better life experience. Our mental health impacts every part of our lives, and I look forward to helping you improve yours.
My Background and Approach
I see clients for a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, stress management, relationship and family issues employment concerns, trauma, neurodivergence, religious trauma, medically related stressors, parenting support, difficulties with the education system, and more. I see adults (18+) and children and adolescents on a case by case basis. I provide talk therapy, CBT, EMDR, and DBT skills training, and other approaches as needed. I tailor my approach to each individual client, and what works best for them. The most important factor for successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship, so my number one goal is to provide a space where you feel safe, heard, and respected. Before becoming a therapist, I was a teacher for many years and spent time homeschooling my children. I am a mother and grandmother. I love animals and nature, and enjoy many hobbies including gardening, music, creativity, collecting rocks, and spending time in nature.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in kindness and curiosity. We need kindness for successful relationships with ourselves and others, and we need curiosity to learn and grow. Other important values and beliefs build from the foundations of kindness and curiosity. Kindness helps us show fairness and justice, compassion, and respect for others and for the world around us. Curiosity helps us believe in what's possible, learn new skills and attitudes, and see life with a more open mind. Kindness looks for the best in others, and helps abolish shame and regret. We all need safe people with whom we can let down their walls and take off our masks, and it's an honor to be that kind of person for others.
