About My Clients
I enjoy working with individuals who find themselves ready to move into greater self awareness and those who are needing support through difficult circumstances or symptoms. I specialize in working with women who deal with body image issues, eating disorders, perfectionism, mood disorders, depression, anxiety or infertility. I work with many women who are in the postpartum or perinatal periods.
My Background and Approach
I have worked with many individuals through my work in inpatient, home health and private practice settings. My style is informal, I look to connect and learn before coming to judgements or conclusions. I lead sessions with curiosity and compassion. I am at heart a relational therapist and lead with this approach. Although formally trained in CBT, I have developed a style that blends CBT, mindfulness and person-centered together. I am always learning new approaches and adapting them as needed. I enjoy continually learning and developing my clinical skills.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the essential integrity of the human person. I am always doing my own inner work in order to be able to both lead and learn in sessions with clients. We are created to find meaning in our existence. To each find our "why." You are the expert on you and your "why" and we will explore this together. Essentially, what we do in therapy is try to make meaning of what has happened and is happening. I believe people are more resilient than they realize. I have seen in doing this work how adaptable and malleable we are to the situations we find ourselves in, both for the better and worse. I have been able to witness incredible growth and seen new neural pathways begin to take root. This is powerful.
