My extensive trainings in Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and EMDR are especially focused on working with trauma somatically and in ways that prevent re-traumatization by provide ways to to heal from trauma often held in the body .
We all go through various transitions in life, parenting, coming of age, leaving home for the first time, children leaving, divorce, new job/career, moving to just name a few. My trainings allow me to provide tools to help with the complexities and emotions around transitions.
As a teacher in multicultural school systems and as member of a multiracial family I made cultural sensitive trainings a priority throughout all of my education.
Trained in early childhood development as a kindergarten teacher in Germany attachment theory was at the core of my training. Additionally, I focused on trainings in international adoption and children with attachment difficulties. In my subsequent trainings on trauma, attachment theory has been a basic building block to all of these models.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, as developed by Pat Ogden, PhD, combines somatic therapies, attachment theory, cognitive applications, neuroscience, and techniques from the Hakomi method and is especially helpful in working with trauma and developmental injuries. I completed levels 1 and 2 and have assisted in both levels.
