About My Clients

Do you look like you have everything a person could want? You're a smart, professional and accomplished woman and people rely on you because you can handle it, but inside you feel exhausted, confused overwhelmed and unhappy. You are private and not comfortable talking about this with friends or family, at least not in an in-depth way. Talking about yourself for an hour seems hard and self-indulgent. But things have gotten hard and you're willing to try.

My Background and Approach

My approach is organic and eclectic, mirroring the varied nature of my life experiences and professional training. I am strengths based and draw upon psychodynamic, CBT and narrative approaches. My background and training spans 20 years beginning with two masters degrees: one in spirituality/psychology and the other in social work. In my early career, I worked in a large Chicago hospital with women dealing with infertility and dying or sickly babies. I then worked for a hospice organization in Iowa followed by work with people who have addiction and mental health issues.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My mission is to provide space for women to be heard, empowered and healed. I believe in the power of being listened to with love and not judgment. In my early 20s, I suffered from depression, anxiety and panic attacks. It was a dark and lonely time. Through my own therapy experience (Thank you, Celia!), I had a place to talk about my sadness and fears and to move to a place of understanding and acceptance. I do this work today so that I can bring that same relief to women struggling with the difficult stuff of life: parenting, relationships, infertility, abuse, aging, cancer, parents and death. I believe in timing and energy and synchronicity. I believe in the interconnectedness of living things. I am hopelessly in love with my rescue dogs, Bo and Pete. I am working to be more mindful about my impact on the environment and here are a few ways: I compost, use reusable bags and replaced lawn with a native plant pollinator garden.
