My Background and Approach
I have a background in working with adults that are dealing with eating disorders, addiction, anxiety, and trauma. My approach to counseling is relational and practical. I want to equip you with skills to use in everyday life to reduce your symptoms. I also want to help you address the root issues at play in your life. We will work collaboratively to address the distress you are currently experiencing. If you are experiencing distress because of past experience or trauma, I am trained in EMDR to help you deal with the painful memories. This process helps the brain process the memories and store them in a way that allows them to exist but not intrude on your daily life. You'll gain skills to deal with current symptoms, while addressing the trauma that may be causing your distress.
