About My Clients
Are you feeling limited in life, are you stuck in old dynamics that are not serving you? Does self criticism, fear, depression, and anxiety hold you back from having the life and relationships you want. Together we can find new ways to approach your problems and relationships, and help you clarify what you want for your life and your relationships.
My Background and Approach
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, loss, anger issues, caregiving issues, and substance abuse problems. Psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing are the theoretical foundations that guide my work with clients. I believe the relationship between client and therapist can provide the foundation to explore your issues and understand yourself better, and provide the catalyst to make the changes you want to make in your life. I have been a social worker for almost 30 years. I have worked in a variety of settings and worked with a range of populations. In the last decade I have worked with older adults and adults with disabilities. Previously I worked with children and their families, and adults with mental health issues. I have engaged with these clients in clinical settings, the court system, psychiatric day treatment, and protective services.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy can help one to look at their life in new ways, and challenge old patterns of thinking and maladaptive behaviors. There are no easy fixes in life, but with time, support, self compassion, one can start to make significant changes in one's life.
