About My Clients
Do you feel down or depressed? Are you always worried that something bad is going to happen? Does it feel like you’re living under a dark cloud and you can’t see the sun? I know how that feels. I’ve been there and I want to help you get out from under the heaviness of depression and/or anxiety. I look forward to teaching you tools to lighten your load, help you feel more calm, and let some light in again.
My Background and Approach
I’ve been working one on one with clients since 2009 in various settings. I tend to see things from a cognitive behavioral perspective, but I’m not a one size fits all type of therapist. I will draw from various therapy approaches to find tools that meet your specific needs. I am very client centered and we will work together on a plan tailored to your needs and personal values and goals. Will we laugh? I hope so. I like to use humor whenever appropriate. Will there be tears? Probably. I want you to be your true self and show all of your emotions. And, I hope that you take away one thing you can use in your day-to-day from each of our sessions, even if just words of encouragement.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in autonomy. Therefore, I prefer to work with clients who have made the decision to pursue therapy for their own personal health and development. I don’t work with anyone who has been mandated, coerced, or otherwise forced into therapy. If you’re doing it to appease someone else, it won’t work. My virtual office is a judgement free zone. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and will not judge anyone for their chosen lifestyle. Although I respect all faiths and spiritual beliefs, I practice purely from a secular perspective. Participating in faith based activities can definitely be a coping skill, but they are not a treatment in and of themselves. I am a geek. I love board games, escape rooms, renaissance fairs, and a good documentary with a twist. All fellow geeks welcome!
