About My Clients
My clients are ready for help. They know something is off and they want change. I work with adults of all ages, and adolescents 15 and up. My clients are looking for a comfortable place to let everything out, with a person who is willing to walk this part of their journey with them.
My Background and Approach
I have a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology, and a Master's in Clinical Social work. I like to approach therapy as a person in context of their life, their culture, community, and experience. We are not made in a vacuum, all elements have led to who we are right now. I use a trauma-informed approach, specifically looking at attachment and how that has affected current functioning. This doesn't mean we have to dig around in the past, but a basic understanding can do a lot to change situations in the present. I would call my style "eclectic" as I use elements from different types of therapy styles to compliment specific client needs. I believe the client is the expert on themselves, sometimes people just need a little help sorting through all of that.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I love brains and am fascinated by how they work. I also love human resilience and watching when people overcome difficulties in life. I hate that therapist bio's tend to be cheesy, and I really don't want mine to be, but I do think it's important for you to know a few things about me. I am passionate about mental health awareness; I want to be a contributing force to ending the stigma we all face if we've struggled with mental health issues. Yeah, you read that right, I have struggled with my mental health too. That's not something I'm ashamed of, I think it gives me a great perspective on what we are capable of. I'm a parent, I'm a partner, a dog owner, and a tattooed nerd. I believe therapy should be comfortable and safe, to explore the deepest parts of yourself in order to live a full, authentic life.
