About My Clients
Most of my clients don't think of themselves as having an eating disorder, but concerns about food and their body are significant enough to affect their daily lives. Many people don't realize that there is no weight limit or body type to have an eating disorder: what matters is if it's something that troubles you. Struggles with body image and eating are incredibly common; therapy is a great place to address these concerns, and decrease the significance they have in your life.
My Background and Approach
I'm currently in my second year of a two-year training program at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia (CSAB). During my time there, I've learned that there isn't just one approach that helps people: often, a combination of techniques is best. For both disordered eating and anxiety, behavioral tools such as CBT can help directly address the symptoms that are troubling you. Exploring the history of the symptoms with psychodynamic techniques can then provide a deeper understanding of the symptoms' role in your life, and how to prevent them from affecting you in the future.
