About My Clients
The majority of the clients I serve are adolescents and young adults. Many of my clients identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and I have many who are gender nonconforming. I follow WPATH's Standard of Care for Transgender and Gender Nonconforming people and I write gender affirming letters. I also provide relationship counseling and support people in nontraditional relationships.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive professional and volunteer experience working with youth. I have also worked with adults in two residential treatment programs, one for substance abuse treatment and a second for serious mental illness. I am trained in the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment model, and I have worked with clients through the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program. I have a strengths-based approach that leans heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I incorporate other treatment modalities as appropriate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a social justice advocate. In my professional domain, I support marginalized populations by offering the best care I can and by continuing to take training to better enable myself to provide culturally sensitive counseling. I offer discounted counseling services to accommodate those who need therapy but have limited financial means. In my personal time, volunteer as a chaperone for a high school Gay Straight Alliance group, support local high school counseling programs, and I am a member of PFLAG.
