My interest in epigenetics and the impact of trauma on the generations has been interest of mine for many years. I am also in awe that that many individuals do not want to recreate the same patterns for their life or their children's lives as a result of the harms they survived as children; or as a result of what their parents had to endure as children. Working in community mental health for 10 years, I specialized in the treatment of sexual abuse, and was not surprised to find out that more often than not, folks have been impacted by multiple traumas that coincide with sexual abuse- like domestic violence and substance abuse. I also have the lived experience of a serving as an active duty military's wife and wife of a veteran, and anxiously waited for my partner's safe return from both tours during deployments.

Life brings anxiety, unfortunately. As someone who struggles with anxiety, AND, has benefited from the power of a safe space, counseling, and community- I invite you to share your story, learn some coping skills, and maybe even review where the anxiety first started. EMDR can be a highly effective way to reduce your anxiety and reclaim your joy!

As a Latinx, white passing, big-boned, bilingual, educated, and mindfully sound provider; my intention is to honor the intersections of your identity and the cultures that have shaped you. I understand the impact systems have on culture and the generational or historical trauma that is passed down, as well as the generational wisdom that we carry. My hope is to hold space for what you need to explore this area of your life.

I do believe that we are of mind, body, and spirit. As your counselor, my hope is to work congruently with all parts of self so that wellness is achieved in all areas of life. This might include offering a book suggestion, recommendations for a walk during our session, suggestions for you to include outside body work- like massage, acupuncture, or checking in with your primary doctor; or an invitation for a mindfulness meditation or breath work, in or outside of the office.
