About My Clients
I am particularly passionate about working with women and queer folx who have experienced trauma and want to explore how those experiences have impacted their sense of self, ability to engage in healthy relationships, and find fulfillment.
My Background and Approach
I am licensed as a mental health therapist and a drug and alcohol counselor. My treatment approach is humanistic - which operates on the fundamental principle that people are good at heart and capable of making their own choices as the are the experts on their own lives. It is the belief that in order to lead our most fulfilling lives, we must become our true, integrated, authentic selves. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (Parts Work), mindfulness, and Advanced Motivational Interviewing. I am also a certified Prepare/Enrich Premarital Counselor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer that we are a product of our experiences (nurture over nature) which means that together, we will explore those experiences to gain understanding of who you are (the fun and the not so fun parts). In therapy, I use humor, empathy, and believe in having an honest and open relationship with my clients. I am committed to learning, listening, and holding space for the underserved. My hope is to create a safe space for all who need it! In my personal life, I travel as often as possible - taking in new culture fills my cup! I also I love getting out and connecting with nature. My dog Milton and I spend much of the summer camping, hiking, and swimming.
