About My Clients
I serve clients with complex issues such as survivors of trauma, child abuse/neglect, and at times with comorbid chemical dependency, panic attacks, or body focused repetitive behaviors that may or not relate to OCD, Trichitillomania, Excoriation disorder, Autism spectrum disorder.
My Background and Approach
I have a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling psychology and have specialized in trauma and addiction. I believe in strengths based, patient centered, and trauma informed care. I have worked in shelter care, foster care, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric units, ran an Outpatient treatment program for Adults, Children, and Teens diagnosed with mental health and/or substance use disorders, worked as a career counselor for freshmen confused about their futures, worked at a Childrens Advocacy center to help children and families overcome a variety of issues surrounding child abuse/neglect or exposure to traumatic events, and initiated couples counseling services at a University based crisis counseling center. I have knowledge and experience creating group curriculums/rubrics for at risk children and teens ages 4-12 and 13-17 years and have provided training and support to fellow counselors in my role as Clinical Director while working in two diffierent facilities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is important that communities empower people to seek help and obtain support especially in certain areas where access to mental health services is limited. It is similarly important that holistic approaches to mental and physical wellness be considered so that the person reaches their highest potential and using the most culturally relevant yet individualized, multi-dimensional approach possible.
