About My Clients
Navigating the complexities of cancer, grief & loss, sexual trauma, and other distressing life events is overwhelming and can feel all-consuming. It is common for my clients to experience depression, high anxiety, isolation, loss of trust in others, and other adverse effects that often impact their relationships with themselves and others. My role is to support and guide clients through the healing process and assist with finding meaning and acceptance in their unique situations.
My Background and Approach
My goal as your therapist is to strengthen and heal the relationship you have with yourself and others. No two human beings are exactly the same. We each experience the world around us in our own unique way. As such, I tailor my approach to the person I am working with at any given time. I view the therapy process as collaborative and interactive. I have an eclectic and holistic approach with an emphasis on Trauma Focused CBT and Attachment Theory. I have spent 10 years refining the coping skills and techniques I teach my clients. For 5 years I worked as a Victim Advocate for Orange County's rape crisis center guiding survivors of sexual abuse and assisting them in processing their traumas. The last 5+ years I have been in the outpatient medical setting as an Oncology Social Worker guiding and counseling patients, and their loved ones, affected by cancer. I walk alongside my patients in their trajectory whether it leads to survivorship or end of life care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe psychotherapy is an important and effective tool people can use to address and deal with psychological and emotional difficulties. I have utilized mental health services multiples times to help me cope with life's challenges, including childhood trauma, the death of my mother, and most recently, a diagnosis of ADHD. I've also incorporated yoga, meditation, and deep breathing exercises into my healing, which have helped me learn a great deal about the importance of the mind-body connection. I am a firm believer that people inherently need one another in life, especially through the hard times. I am an ally to the LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter communities, and have participated in many marches and protests in support of both. I am a wife, a sister, an auntie, and the mother of two human children and four furry ones - cats Ollie & Frankie and dogs Loki & Rogue.
