About My Clients
I work with people navigating mood and anxiety disorders, relationship patterns rooted in early experience, and compulsive behaviors including substance use, gambling, and sexual compulsivity. What brings them to therapy is usually the gap between knowing what they want and being able to get there. Closing that gap is what we work on together.
My Background and Approach
LCPC licensed in Illinois since 2001, MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UW-Stout. I've worked across community mental health, hospital, and higher education settings, experience that shaped my deep respect for how individual change really is. I combine evidence-based tools with genuine curiosity about your history, because you can't fully understand where you're stuck without understanding how you got there. The goal is insight that actually moves you forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy works best when it's honest, not just supportive. That means I'll listen carefully and also tell you what I notice, even when it's uncomfortable. I think people are more capable of change than they've often been told, and that the therapeutic relationship itself is one of the most powerful tools we have. I believe strongly in meeting people where they are, whatever their background, beliefs, or the path that brought them here. I also bring my own lived experience to this work. Growing up in a home shaped by alcohol gave me an early and personal understanding of how family patterns form, and how long they can follow us. That experience informs both my empathy and my respect for how hard this work really is. One thing I want clients to know: I do not use AI-assisted or recorded sessions. Your privacy matters, and what happens in our work together stays there.
