About My Clients

I work with teens and adults who may look like they’re holding things together on the outside while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain underneath. I often help people navigate ADHD, grief, depression, relationships, major life transitions, and questions about faith or direction. Together, we make sense of what’s happening, identify what matters most, and find realistic ways to move forward.

My Background and Approach

I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and the owner of Tartan Counseling in Wheaton. I work with teens and adults dealing with anxiety, ADHD, grief, depression, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and narrative therapy. Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms, I help people better understand their experiences, clarify what matters most, and take meaningful steps forward even when life feels uncertain or uncomfortable. I bring experience from hospital-based behavioral health, private practice, education, and youth work. My goal is to create a space that feels thoughtful, honest, and down-to-earth, where people can make sense of their lives without feeling judged or reduced to a diagnosis.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe people are more than their symptoms, diagnoses, mistakes, or hardest seasons. Therapy should make room for the whole person, including relationships, values, identity, spirituality, humor, uncertainty, and the experiences that have shaped how someone understands themselves and the world. Faith and spirituality can be meaningful parts of therapy when they are important to the person I’m working with. I’m comfortable exploring questions of faith, doubt, meaning, and purpose without assuming what someone should believe. Outside of counseling, I’m a husband and dad, a lifelong Chicagoan, an unapologetic fan of 80s music and movies, and someone who probably knows more about Disney and Star Wars than is professionally necessary.
