About My Clients
I work best with folks who have an idea of the quality of relationships they'd like to have, but seem to get stuck in frustrating patterns and cycles of setbacks and arguments that go nowhere. People in transition or experiencing major life changes that may be accompanied by a loss of direction, meaning , or purpose in life often find solid ground and direction after meeting for awhile. Also individuals who are concerned about the impact Substance abuse may be having on their lives.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in stimulating hope and motivation to make the changes in your life that you have found to be difficult. I use a developmental approach to working with others. I work through empowerment and "teaching you to fish" rather than giving you a fish to eat just for today. With couples, my work is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy, a research based approach that helps you all to recognize and understand the cycles that you get stuck in as a couple that keep you stuck or that actually damage your relationship and learn to intervene and relate to each other in more loving and constructive ways. With individuals I strive to deeply comprehend your situation and help you to understand how many of the ways you have learned to survive life so far may now be liabilities for your growth and happiness. Leveraging your strengths and learning new skills while experiencing deep compassion for yourself and others catalyzes change toward your goals.

I value a person-centered approach, ethical conduct, accessible pricing, effective interventions, and practical methods in psychotherapy practice. I believe everyone can benefit from another perspective to help inform their choices.
