About My Clients
I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, social anxiety, motivation, substance use, and schizophrenia. In the past I have worked with a variety of populations, ranging from individuals transitioning out of homelessness, to adults on the autism spectrum, to children with developmental disabilities. In recent years, I have primarily focused my practice on working with adults and college aged individuals.
My Background and Approach
I find myself particularly drawn to ACT, Internal Family Systems, and short term psychodynamic therapies. I find therapy to be a deeply enriching experience and feel grateful that others let me into their inner worlds to help them better understand themselves. I believe that positive change comes from better understanding the internal processes that hold us back from being the people we want to be and taking steps to change how we hold those processes inside of ourselves. In our work together, we will develop a safe, connected space to better understand those processes, how they came to be, and why they remain. From there we will develop concrete skills to practice in your day to day life, while spending our time processing and exploring in our sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every person has the ability to grow and heal and that healing is amplified in caring, connected relationship with your therapist. I see our emotions and inner processes as fundamentally there to help us, they are just doing it in a way that holds us back. Maybe they worked for another time in our life, at another age, or navigating a different situation and now we need to update them to what we need now. I believe that we can reshape our processes to better suit our needs and help us excel.
