About My Clients
Let's be honest: our society was not made with queer or non-monogamous individuals in mind, and this exclusion can often cause or exacerbate depression, anxiety, and especially traumatic symptoms. Many of my clients feel lost or stuck because the models they have seen in their lives and in media do not work for them. I help my clients as they engage in the challenging, yet rewarding, work of constructing their own life blueprints.
My Background and Approach
In 2023 I completed my degree training in a program structured around developing cultural competence and becoming ACEs- and trauma-informed. Since then, I have continued training through mentor supervision and attending conferences to learn the latest techniques. I believe that my clients belong in the driver's seat of their own lives, and when we meet for therapy I step into the passenger seat with tools and strategies to help you figure out where you would like to go and how to get there. My strengths-based approach helps you to identify the tools that you already have so that you can maximize their potential. I also help clients to develop their own sense of autonomy and understand how their emotions, behaviors, and thoughts are interconnected.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all a product of our society, meaning that the impacts of systemic concerns such as racism, sexism, queerphobia, transphobia, and ableism cannot be ignored. I also believe that the healing and empowerment of therapy is most holistic and thorough when clients show up to counseling with a willingness to engage authentically and openly and continue the work outside of their regularly scheduled therapy sessions.
