I am a clinical social worker who works within a client-centered, integrative, and holistic framework.
Clinical Social Worker in Oklahoma City, OK
In reality grief and loss is the largest chunk of what I've always treated. The grief response is the response that humans have to change. Specifically I have helped many clients through grieving simple losses all the way to complex losses such as children, miscarriages, and stillborn.
At any given time about 1/3 of my caseload are trans or gender diverse individuals. I have worked with several people from exploring their gender identity all the way to pursuing transition services.
I have extensive experience working with people who have PTSD and trauma. Both single episode trauma, and complex trauma. Treating trauma from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse has been the core of my practice experience since I began working as a clinical social worker.
I believe in treating people in a holistic fashion focusing on emotional/mental health, physical health, and spiritual health. Spiritual health doesn't necessarily mean religion, it is just those things that feed who we are as a person. I do believe that all three spheres of health affect each other, and there is research to support this.
I believe in a integrated approach to therapy, utilizing tools and interventions that can best help the client. Not every tool and intervention works for every client, so I find it best to have a large tool chest.
Mindfulness is a core part of my treatment modality. I believe that awareness in the moment provides us the ability to be able to track our behaviors, and then from our behaviors we can explore and better understand why we take those actions. We can look at the mental narratives and core beliefs that lead to those actions, searching for ways to shift perspective and cognition to then create different actions and outcomes.
