About My Clients
I am excited to work with clients from diverse backgrounds and with various presenting concerns. This includes but is not limited to: anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and self-esteem. Additionally, I am a strong advocate for those battling issues with addiction, both substance and behavioral. Addiction, nor any other issue, should not be treated with a one-size-fits-all approach. Ideally we would collaborate together in identifying, prioritizing, and reaching your goals.
My Background and Approach
My primary therapeutic background is Person-Centered and I firmly believe that each client is the expert of their own life. This approach embraces the viewpoint that the counseling relationship should be collaborative, open, and authentic. It is the process of building a trusting relationship that fosters a growth mindset specific to each client's presenting concern. With that, my clinical approach focuses on learning any and all pertinent information about the client during our early sessions before collaborative goal setting. Beyond a person-centered philosophy, I see great value in many other evidence-based modalities and have experience incorporating several approaches. I want to meet each client where they are at and incorporate methods that make sense to the specific individual.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
After working in a corporate environment for almost 20 years, I made the decision to pursue a career in counseling. Though many factors played into this decision, the impact that personal counseling brought into my own life played a monumental role. My aim is to bring a positive impact into your life, regardless of the circumstances. With that, I am a believer and practitioner in unconditional positive regard. Simply put, this means that I accept and support each client without judgement. Additionally, I'm a proponent of providing psycho-education in order to 'demystify' the therapeutic process. I want clients to have a proper understanding as to background causes behind presenting concerns as well as details behind why specific treatment approaches can provide value.
