I am a sex therapist. For over 20 years I have been helping couples and individuals with sexually-based difficulties. A sub-specialty is helping men and their partners with the insidious cycles of sexual performance anxiety and currently have a book I’ve written on the topic on Amazon, entitles, “When Soft is Hard.” Another domain of great experience is with couples who have trouble when partners having differing levels of sexual desire.

For most of the 30 years of being a psychotherapist, I have functioned as a marriage counselor helping unhappy couples overcoming dysfunctional patterns within their relationship or marriage. Much of the work with couples focuses on helping partner eliminate hurtful behaviors. Often these challenges are rooted in ineffective ways of coping with anger. In couples therapy, partners becomes more capable romantic partners while rediscovering the ways that each needs to be loved uniquely.

Many of my clients participate in therapy individually. Throughout the years, I have found that a common thread for those who are dissatisfied in their lives are also are burdened with anxiety, an outgrowth of fear. Old trauma, general anxiety, obsessiveness and panic are common sources of suffering for those who wish to live better and love themselves more. I have decades of experiences helping deserving people calm the uncomfortable intensity of their anxiety.

Since emotions are a driving force regarding self-esteem and how we love and are loved, much of the work I offer has a specific focus of what individuals and romantic partners feel. This often drives the direction of couples therapy with an intentional of raising compassion for painful feelings.

Talk therapy engages through dialogue, but unless that talk becomes behavior and action, it’s just hot air. My work with my clients often gets based in behaviors, follow through, accountability and homework. Both couples and individuals commonly receive very specific behaviors to practice as a way of fixing the focus of therapy into the real world of the client’s daily life.

Especially within the realm of love relationships, many problems are caused by unhealthy habits regarding angry feelings. Healthy use of anger is linked to a personal sense of powerfulness in daily lives. I work with clients to connect with anger, to learn to channel their angry impulses, either by freeing them to be expressed in a constructive, positive effective and properly regulated manner. Through anger management, I guide my clients to be strong, assertive and non-hurtful people.
