About My Clients
Are you having a hard time healing from past or recent trauma? Are you experiencing disruptive symptoms that are interfering with your ability to live the life you want? Worry, fear, anxiety, and negative thoughts can become so overwhelming that you aren't able to manage them on your own. Therapy can help you develop ways of coping with symptoms and healing the hurts that are causing you problems; and I look forward to working with you in your journey to good mental health.
My Background and Approach
I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Indiana University in 2002 and worked as a social worker for 11 years before going back to school to be a Counselor. I obtained my Masters of Counseling degree from CMU in May 2016. My internship and work experiences include working with survivors of domestic violence in a shelter, providing substance abuse counseling in an inpatient and outpatient settings, and individual counseling. Now, in private practice; I work collaboratively with clients to manage symptoms ranging from adjustment struggles to depression and anxiety, to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. My post-graduate training includes Certification in EMDR and as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I meet each client where they are at; and believe that everyone has the ability to heal. My work with clients is collaborative, with the client bringing the expertise on their life and myself providing the knowledge of interventions, coping skills, and psychoeducation. I feel strongly that everyone is deserving of respect and approach each of my clients with unconditional positive regard.
