About My Clients
Do you have difficulty exchanging self-criticism with curiosity? Condemnation with compassion? The journey to becoming our true selves begins with an invitation to invade our own privacy with a gentle sense of wonder. I extend this invitation to you today. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety and spiritual issues.
My Background and Approach
The space that I try to provide for my clients can not only help them identify the parts that make them beautifully unique, but can also allow for the full expression of this authentic, integrated human being. I utilize an integrated approach from a Gestalt therapy foundation. I also offer Cognitive Behavioral approaches as well as Internal Family Systems. When working with couples, I prefer an experiential EFT approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each person is a unique constellation of "parts" that all have a role to play in how that person occupies their space in the world. Oftentimes, clients come to therapy with the goal of "fixing" or "curing" themselves from an unwanted part. While it is good to desire more prosocial behavior and discipline, we often throw the baby out with the bathwater and disown a part of our authentic selves. My goal is to help my clients establish a new relationship with their parts. Whether these parts manifest as depression, anxiety, addiction, anger or whatever, I believe that therapy is successful when the individual can, through compassion-centered awareness, integrate their various "sub-personalities" into a harmonious, familiar and authentic "whole".
