About My Clients
Are you struggling with chronic pain or unexplained symptoms? Fearing when your next flare-up will be and how long it will last? Feeling like your body has betrayed you? I've lived these experiences myself, and know how scary/isolating it can be. Fortunately, I've found truly powerful practices that can change your relationship to these symptoms and work towards reductions. I can provide guidance and tools for you to gain more safety and confidence in your body.
My Background and Approach
My experiences have led me to pursue trauma-informed trainings and develop an approach that integrates a variety of tools/techniques. I pull from Somatic therapy to support clients with building emotional regulation and nervous system safety. I apply Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems/Parts work to help you improve your relationship to your emotions, behaviors, and experiences. Trauma and pain neuroscience psychoeducation will foster a deeper understanding of what's going on in your mind and body. We'll work with and learn from your challenging symptoms rather than fight against them. We'll explore different tools and practices to find what serves you best. Further, EMDR can be applied to address a wide variety of symptoms at an accelerated pace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I approach my work as a therapist from a social justice and systems lens. I believe that many of our challenges stem from larger societal problems that make it hard for us to find ourselves and support our own wellbeing, especially those who are already disadvantaged. I strive to advocate for change on this broader systems level. I also believe that we can make meaningful changes individually by acknowledging systemic roots, extending compassion to ourselves and others, and addressing the challenges that are in our control on a day to day basis.
