About My Clients
When it’s time, it’s time. Have you been feeling more anxious or down than usual, noticing your self-esteem decline, or feeling generally disconnected? These can all be signs of unresolved trauma still living in the body and mind. Maybe you’ve tried talk therapy and are ready to go a little deeper, or try something different. Together, we can begin to unpack the layers of what’s been left behind. By using creative approaches, you can feel more grounded, fulfilled, and more like you again.
My Background and Approach
I am a Trauma Therapist and Art Therapist who utilizes person-centered approaches to support clients in navigating life’s challenges. With a focus on fostering self-insight, boosting self-esteem, and building resilience, I work collaboratively with clients to help them heal and grow through creative expression and therapeutic techniques. I am aware that traumatic experiences are often difficult to verbalize, and I integrate non-verbal interventions for clients still learning how to tell their stories. Sessions often include a mixture of processing, psychoeducation, and instruction on coping techniques to practice at home. I integrate EMDR for those who are interested in body-based healing. Previous to entering private practice, I worked in an inpatient hospital setting, where I provided therapy to children, adolescents, and adults living through chronic illnesses, mental health crises, economic economic disparities, and generational traumas.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Latina and queer therapist, and advocate for clients with disabilities, I feel that therapy is a place to reconnect with your strength, identity, cultural values, and self-purpose. I'm an active member of my community, volunteering with organizations that provide free mental healthcare, resources to children and families with medical illnesses, and working with grassroots groups to preserve Illinois' native biodiversity. I stay connected to my heritage through art-making and collaboration with my community. My practice is rooted in empathy, creativity, and cultural humility—honoring each person's story while offering tools to move forward.
